Port Overview

Malabo is the commercial and financial centre of Equatorial Guinea. It is the oldest city in Equatorial Guinea. Its deep harbour is able to allow several ships to dock. The main trade activity is the export of cocoa, timber and coffee. After the discovery and development of its oil reserves, there is an increase in business and development in the city.

Malabo port has facilities for general cargo, bulk and tanker vessels. It has two separate ports. The Old Port has berths for tankers and general cargo carriers. The New Port, on the other hand, has facilities for bulk cargo vessels.

The government focused on improving the port depth to allow bigger ships to berth at Malabo. There are also many efforts to improve the efficiency of the port cranes. This helps to expedite the loading and unloading processes of the ships. A lot of efforts are constantly made to help keep up with the vessel and economic development.
