Port Overview
Lagos is the earliest and largest Port in Nigeria. It is situated in Apapa, Lagos State, the commercial center of Nigeria. Lagos (Apapa) seaport was established in 1913 and construction of the first four deep water berths commenced in 1921. The Apapa Port is well equipped with modern cargo handling equipment and personnel support facilities making her cost effective and customer friendly.

Currently there are a few carriers with service to Apapa. However with the various consortiums among the carriers, there are actually only about two sailings a week to Apapa. With our regular shipments to the West African region, it is not an issue for us to find a suitable sailing with available space and equipment to Apapa.

Congestion at Apapa is getting worse as more and more owners do not have the financial means to move them. Containers that had been left idle for a period of up to one year would be subject to damage and constitute loss not only to the owners but the economy. Issues like high cost of transportation and road network issues have prevented movement of overtime containers to areas out the the port.
However importers and exporters across the country rather their shipment be arranged to Lagos (Apapa) ports, despite the huge losses they incur as a result of bad roads and high demurrage. It is commercially not viable as the not many carriers have regular sailings to other Nigerian ports.
